Nine of the units in Southside are home to residents with 60% or below Area Median Income along East Piedmont Avenue: they were made possible by a forgivable loan from the City of Durham and loan by Self-Help.
Four units of the E. Piedmont Ave development are designated housing for homeless veterans. DCLT partnered with the Durham Veterans Administration (VA) to occupy these homes.
Furthermore, these 1, 2 and 3 BDR homes are built in craftsman design to mimic other housing development in the neighborhood.
Lofts @ Southside (Phase II) is currently under construction and scheduled for completion in December 2017. This will be an 85 multi-family mixed-income apartment housing development on Roxboro Street, adjacent to Southside. It includes 58 units for 60% AMI and below, and 27 units for market rate. DCLT is a silent partner in this project awarding the primary developer, McCormack, Baron & Salazar, DCLT’s low-income housing tax credits to qualify Phase II as an affordable housing development.
